It’s been over 12 years since I returned from Hawaii. Too much time has passed for me to recall what food is sold at food courts at the mall. However, if they sell fish soup with noodles or rice, eat that instead of chow mein! It’s healthy and more often than not, it’s a balanced meal!
I get my weekly fish soup fix at Cafe2000 at the M Hotel. It costs a lot more than the same dish at food courts and hawker centres, but they use cod in place of cheaper fish and they give a lot of it! To illustrate, this is a bowl of the cod noodle soup they serve. Note the size compared to the saucers!
They already add enough veggies such as tomatoes and choy sum for this dish to be a balanced meal on its own and it keeps me full until dinnertime. There’re no hunger pangs, no need to snack in between. After this, I usually enjoy a fragrant local coffee and I’m ready to work for the rest of the day!
Fish is 1 of the best proteins we can consume. I won’t list the nutritional content since you can Google that. But what I’ll tell you is, it’s filling, it’s delicious and it’s extremely good for us! I’m not as healthy as others who order the steamed fish slices. Fried ones taste much better, heh 😛 It’s still fresh food anyway 😛
By rotating different types of fish and meats, we nourish our bodies with a variety of vitamins and minerals to keep us in tip top condition. Oh, if you’re interested in the aesthetic part of it, eating more fish keeps us looking young 😛
So go ahead, eat more fish. It’s bloody good for you!
