Seafood usually costs more in most countries. We’re lucky that we can afford to eat them on a regular basis. Shellfish and fish are excellent sources of lean protein and vitamins and minerals. My man and I love seafood. As a treat, he cooked me a steamed egg with prawns!
Lucky you, because my man is happy to share the recipe for this delicious dish with you!
Medium-sized shelled grey prawns, leave the head and tail
Ready chicken stock
Arrange the prawns and pull them straight in a shallow metal dish. Lightly beat the eggs with chicken stock, then pour the mixture over the prawns.
In a deep wok, fill with water and bring to the boil. Place a metal stand into the water, then place the metal dish on top. Cover the wok and steam for 10 minutes. Keep the water boiling during that time and ensure it doesn’t dry up.
That’s it! It’s a simple and easy to prepare dish that tastes divine with rice. If you want a little more flavour and fragrance, add a teaspoon of sesame oil and capful of Chinese rice wine when you beat the eggs.
I plan to write about how you can include more fish in your diet on a budget this year. Healthy meals needn’t cost an arm and a leg. Invest in your food because your body will thank you for it : )
