Part of my health journey involved monitoring water consumption. Keeping ourselves hydrated brings many benefits, including clearer skin (I’m vain, okay?), better digestion and the elimination of toxins in our system. Guess what happens? Less cellulite (told you I’m vain!). Depending on which health professional you follow, the daily recommended intake is 6 to 8 glasses. On average, I consume at least 1.5L or about 50 ounces of water everyday.
If your appetite requires regulation, then drinking sufficient quantities of water will help. Oftentimes, people mistake thirst for hunger and eat instead of drink. If you’re used to flavoured drinks, try squeezing lemon juice or add some cut/diced strawberries or peaches into your water and chuck it in the fridge. It’s a fantastic thirst quencher!
Give yourself at least 2 months to do this and, if possible, stretch it another day at a time. After 6 months, once your tastebuds have readjusted, you’ll actually find sodas too strong for your liking. Then they’ll become 1 of those once-in-a-blue-moon cravings and the likelihood of you binge-drinking them is much lower. I haven’t had a Coke in over 2 years. And I still don’t crave it.
